Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter was not only one of the most significant humanitarians of our time, winning the Nobel Peace Prize is n 2002, the 39th President was also a big music fan, and was personal friends with many musicians, including Bob Dylan, Gregg Allman, Willie Nelson, and Bono, to name a few.

Georgia’s Governor at the time, Carter invited the Allman Brothers to the 1974 post-concert reception Carter hosted for Bob Dylan. Gregg Allman was reportedly impressed with Carter’s down-to-earth and humble presence. When Carter decided to run for President in 1976, many musicians, including the Allman Brothers, began fundraising for Carter who didn’t have many funds. After he was elected, he gave credit to the Allman Brothers for helping him get elected.
