OCTOBER 10
“Now constantly there is the sound, quieter than rain, of the leaves falling.
Under their loosening bright gold, the sycamore limbs bleach whiter.
Now the only flowers are beeweed and aster, spray of their white and lavender over the brown leaves.
The calling of a crow sounds loud—a landmark—now that the life of summer falls silent, and the nights grow.”
-Wendell Berry

The fall months are definitely a notable time in Easton. From apple picking at Silvermans, to pizza trucks and flea markets at Sport Hill Farm, buying pumpkins and local honey everywhere, to community trick or treating, there is much beauty and celebration around town.
Easton also has some of the best foliage in Fairfield County. Take a hike or ride around town to view the beautiful tunnels of color, particularly along the back roads. Then stop for a coffee at Greisers, or a quart of fresh flavored milk at Shaggy Coos, before getting ready for Halloween parades, trunk or treat, and neighborhood parties.
Enjoy the remainder of fall as we approach the holidays. Sign up for your local turkeys at Shaggy Coos and get ready to visit one of the local Christmas tree farms with the family.
Don’t forget to take the time to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, and all of the fall comfort foods like homemade chili, nut breads, pumpkin treats, apple cider and apple cider donuts.
Take a look at the night sky on a clear night to see the constellations, beautiful moons and even an occasional Aurora Borealis!
Enjoy and stay safe, Easton.
