Edition 1: Don’t Miss the Miracle

First Edition of Superpower Mindfulness
There’s no shortage of bad actors and bad acts in this world—things designed to bring you down, make you spiral, and sap the inspiration from the very sinew of your soul. You must not let them. These forces have a simple, insidious goal: to make you like them.

Let us speak instead of ordinary magic. Let us find a way to walk the path of life such that you do not become what you oppose. Instead, emulate what you support—and what supports you in return: The Earth. The next generation. Your partner. Your community. It is not always easy, but it is simple. And it is essential to your admirable goals: presence, peace, purpose.

First, take solace in this: today, you are not defined by any of it.

Wars, oppression, corruption, abuse—it’s all on display. We must not look away. We may suffer for looking, but that suffering pales next to the insatiable rot of complicity, or the slow decay of indifference. This suffering comes with a counterpoint: it gives us an opportunity.

As Ram Dass reminds us, we must have the courage to look upon the world—all of it—and project joy. Especially when we see suffering. Especially now.

If we do, we receive an opportunity to turn spirals of despair into spirals of growth, for you and others. The latter will be a major theme in this series.

Over the past ten years, I’ve been on a path of discovery, trial and error, and learning. What started as a method of survival has led me to something bountiful—a system for fortitude, joy, and peace hidden in plain sight. It’s really a re-discovery of nature, music, and the gifts given to us by our children. Of the things that make life worth living, and help us recognize our abundance.

I’m talking about mindfulness. Being present with the things that matter.

Or, more aptly: Superpower Mindfulness.

Why This Series Exists (And Why Now)

I’m building something, and I want you to be part of it before it’s finished.

Over the next year, I’ll be launching two projects I’ve been dreaming about—and building—for a long time. They’re not ready to announce in full yet. But this column is where they will unfold, starting with this Superpower Mindfulness series. Hints. Experiments. A behind-the-scenes of a global bootstrap that’s connected me to Italy, Pakistan, and Argentina, to name a few.

There are still many pieces I’m trying to fit into place, and I’ll likely need your advice. If something resonates, you’ll help shape what comes next.

What to Expect with Each Installment

In each edition, I’ll be talking about Superpower Mindfulness, and why I think it’s so important for you and me right now.

Every edition will offer:
A Hint — something small I’ve gathered about presence, parenting, or just staying upright in a spinning world. Picked up over a decade of stumbling self-growth.

An Exercise — something practical you can actually use, not just nod along with. (Example: the first and last things I read each day are positive messages. Works wonders. I’ll share where I find mine and hope to hear where you’ve found yours.)

A Question — an invitation to reflect, reply, and shape what comes next. Answering, even in short, has proven to be a powerful catalyst, or ballast, for me.

We can’t stay present all of the time. Even the great Novak Djokovic acknowledges this and tells us the goal is to minimize the rebound. And when we do, we can walk, talk, choose, and be still with confidence and control. That’s the goal. Superpower Mindfulness is about the toolkit and the map. Like knowing you have a powerful reset question always available to you: What is mine to do right now?

Your Invitation

The only requirement for Superpower Mindfulness is the willingness to begin.

To begin can be heard as Be + Again. In life, each moment is an opportunity to be again. To be present again. To be peaceful again. To be purposeful again. Just like at the start.

The goal is simple, but not easy: to bring one million more people into the mindfulness fold, exercising their superpower to change themselves, then the world around them. It all starts here, each moment, each step. It starts with you.

I hope these dispatches help you cultivate your own superpower of presence. I hope they help you stay awake to the ordinary magic unfolding around you every single day.

Because the miracle is here. It’s in the laughter of a child, the kindness of a stranger, the first light of morning, the courage to keep going. The snowdrop breaking through the frost as spring awakens, the sunflower’s relentless turn towards the summer bloom, the golden glow of the transformed aspen forest in autumn before the release, the trust of the polar bear to rest knowing the sun and seals will return. The spirit of you, changing with the seasons, greeting each transformative pattern as new.

Don’t miss it.
